CA industry giant Simon Hay joins Uncrowd as Advisory Board Member

Uncrowd has made an impossible day dream come true as Simon Hay joins us as an Advisory Board member.


We're so excited to welcome Simon to the team, both as Advisory Board Member and to work on joint customer projects. Never in a million days of daydreaming did I imagine one of THE premier heroes of customer analytics would be wearing the Uncrowd colours but here we are.

What a record Simon has; twenty five years at dunnhumby, seven as Global CEO, hundreds of millions in revenues both in the UK and in the US, 84 UK customers, hundreds of hugely talented dunnhumby people recruited, nurtured and sent out into the world to change customer analytics forever.

Simon has worked for over 35 years at the forefront of using data to transform results for the world’s leading retailers and brands – he was worked in over 80 countries on building customer engagement through the smart application of data to the customer experience and changing the way decisions are made by retailers and brands. He spent 25 years at dunnhumby, including 6 as Global CEO. Simon is also a trustee for The Brain Tumour Charity and an advisor to UK Government, he believes that AI and data can change many parts of our lives for better.

Simon was instrumental in establishing the powerhouse that is Tesco Clubcard, and later forming a joint venture with The Kroger Co. in the US, building a $250m business driving collaboration between retailers and brands through data – a key part of Kroger’s success in doubling sales. Simon was a co-founder of Outra in 2017 joining like-minded colleagues frustrated that big data and AI are, in most organisations, delivering too little and costing too much. He has presented on major conference platforms on every continent, his command of the subject and his frankness always make for an insightful, involving and thought-provoking session. He excels at bringing to life complex topics and ensuring that each and every person in the room feels that they have learned something valuable that can be applied to their own individual business.

But also, he’s a really nice man and lovely company. Modest, humble and whip-smart clever with a passion for retail and analytics that burns white hot.
