THIS IS UNCROWD
Recently an investor gave us a list of their eight key pillars; the criteria they judge a startup by at first glance. It's a good list and for anyone who has wondered what Uncrowd is about and how we're positioned, this is a terrific fast primer.
1. Fundamental Proposition
Putting retailers into winning positions by surfacing customer loves and hates in real contexts, leading to massively engaging shopping experiences that keep customers coming back. Reducing customer churn by 5% for a top 10 UK retailer saves that retailer £800m/year. Build from the back – you can’t survive with a sloppy defence.
2. Growing Market
UK retailers are already spending £1.1bn on digital customer analytics. The global market is worth more than £10bn and both are growing at well over double digit CAGRs.
3. Revenue Focus
We’re building a super-commercial SaaS platform that solves real retailer problems, saves and makes them money and is structured from the off to be a revenue monster.
Our platform generates outputs that scale without requiring consultancy input. We’ve cracked this with machine learning that procedurally generates action-plans for retailers that ignite creative problem solving, give close guidance leading to rock solid change that customers love.
5. Team Dynamics
Co-founders who’ve been friends for years, who complement skills and styles perfectly. We’re combining creative, sales, and development at our very core. We have an awesome ‘lucky find’ back-end dev and superb data scientists are keen to join. We’ve been approached by top tech-sales leads to run our sales operation. We’ve had personal investment from a senior director at Oracle who himself led two prior startups to Tech Track 100 status and chunky exits. We’re well advised and loving every minute.
We have the author of Smart Retail, one of the best-selling retail manuals of all time, now in it’s 4th edition and in 22 languages. His new book, the bible for Uncrowd’s output arrives April and is entitled Friction/Reward: Be Your Customer’s First Choice.
7. Market Disrupter
The flawed but crazily popular Net Promoter Score will die when clients start to use Friction/Reward to understand customer preference. People first react to Friction/Reward with incredulity, then as they begin to see how it works, they get very, very excited and keen to get stuck in. We’re solving a previously impossible problem here.
8. Unit Economics
One SaaS platform; massive fast scalability and straightforward light-touch customer support make this potentially highly profitable.
So this is Uncrowd - come join us if you like the sound of all that...
